Therapy & Psychiatric Care Across Georgia
Therapy and medication management for children, teens, and adults, by secure video anywhere in Georgia or in person in Decatur. We accept most major insurance plans, and you can book your first visit online in minutes.
How We Can Help
Whether you want someone to talk to, a psychiatric evaluation, or both, our therapists and prescribers work as one team, so your care stays coordinated. Most visits are by secure video anywhere in Georgia, with in-person visits available in Decatur.

Individual Therapy
One-on-one sessions with a licensed therapist for anxiety, depression, trauma, stress, and life transitions. Your therapist draws on approaches like CBT, DBT skills, and trauma-informed care, and tailors each session to what you want to work on.

Child, Teen & Family Therapy
Therapy for children ages 5 and up, teens, and families, including play-based and expressive approaches for younger kids, help with emotional regulation and school or family stress, and support for parents who want new tools at home.

Psychiatric Care & Medication Management
A thorough first visit with a board-certified psychiatric nurse practitioner or psychiatrist to understand your symptoms, history, and goals. Together you decide on a plan, which may include medication, and follow-up visits track how you are doing and adjust as needed.

Pregnancy & Postpartum Mental Health
Care for depression, anxiety, and mood changes during pregnancy and after birth with a nurse practitioner certified in perinatal mental health (PMH-C). Questions about medication while pregnant or breastfeeding are welcome, and answered without judgment.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between therapy and medication management?
Therapy is talk-based care with a therapist, focused on understanding what you are going through and building skills that help day to day. Medication management is care with a psychiatric clinician who evaluates your symptoms and, if it is a good fit, prescribes and monitors medication. Many people benefit from both, and we offer both in one practice.

What is a psychiatric nurse practitioner (PMHNP)?
A Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner is an advanced practice nurse with graduate-level training in mental health. PMHNPs are board certified to evaluate and diagnose mental health conditions, prescribe medication, and provide ongoing psychiatric care.

What happens at my first visit?
Your clinician will ask what brings you in, along with your history, any current medications, and your goals. Then you will talk through options and decide on a plan together. It helps to have your insurance card, a photo ID, and a list of current medications handy.

Do you see children and teens?
Yes. We see children, teens, adults and older adults. Each clinician works with specific age groups, so check the Meet the Team page or call us and we will match you with the right person.

Are telehealth visits private?
Video visits are held on a secure platform built for healthcare. For your privacy, join from a quiet space where you can talk freely. You will need to be physically located in Georgia at the time of your visit.

Do you take insurance?
Yes. We accept most major insurance plans, including Aetna, Cigna, Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield, UnitedHealthcare, and Humana. Coverage varies by plan, so call or text us if you would like help checking your benefits.

What if I need to cancel or reschedule?
Please call or text us at 470-826-2233 as early as you can so we can offer the time to another patient. Our team can answer any questions about our cancellation policy.

What if I am in crisis?
Mindwaves is not an emergency service. If you are in crisis or thinking about harming yourself, call or text 988 (Suicide & Crisis Lifeline) any time, or call 911 or go to the nearest emergency room.
